Oak Frame Smoking Enclosures
Details:
All the oak used in construction is unseasoned structural grade meaning it is ‘close’ or ‘tight’ grained for strength and durability. The joints are made by the traditional method of mortise and tenon and are then dry oak pegged. Where softwood is used it will be of structural grade and treated against woodworm and other insects.
Oak post will be 150 x 150 mm (imperial size 6” x 6”) in size and will be set on staddle stones. Beams will also be of oak sized 150 x 150 mm. The rafters and the studwork will be constructed in treated softwood measuring 100 x 50 mm. Unseasoned oak weatherboard will be cut to size and nailed to the gable ends of the roof.
